Protest in Print Exhibition

 

Please join us on Monday 16 September 2019 at 6.30pm at Impact Hub, Digbeth, for a discussion surrounding an exhibition of cultural reviews and magazines from the 1968 period. Texts and images from across Europe and North America will be on display.

It is free to attend and to view the exhibition.

The discussion will ask:

  • how important is the print press in expressing and sharing ideas at times of unrest and protest?
  • have the printed word and image been replaced by digital communications in the twenty-first century?
  • how do material and ideas cross national and language borders? What is the role of translation?

Emanuela Patti, Ellen Pilsworth, and Katie Blair will lead the conversation.

In the afternoon on the same day, there will be a meeting to begin planning for a bid for funding. This project will investigate connections between the print press, digital media, and protest from a range of perspectives.
